"After the very successful first Tokamak in Milan, Italy we would like to repeat this at the second Plasma developer meeting in the beautiful city of Oporto, Portugal. The local ISEP institute, kindly offered to host this meeting. ISEP is very interested in Open Source technologies especially exciting and promising ones like KDE's Plasma. ISEP wants its students of computer science to experience Open Source Software creation and community." - From the Tokamak II planning page on Techbase
Tokamak II will be held on February 6th-9th and we currently expect 15 members of the Plasma team to attend, along with some local visitors on the first day. We'll be sure to keep you all informed via the blogosphere as to what goes down at this developer sprint. The focus will be on planning for 4.3 as well as a bit longer term, with an emphasis on integration social features into Plasma and generally extending the power of Plasma even further.
A huge thanks to Nuno Pinheiro for taking the organizational role in this Tokamak, ISEP for hosting our crazy bunch of peoples and KDE e.V. for providing funding.

As a former fusion plasma researcher, I get the giggles from KDE's current naming kick. Ater the tokamak are you going to name something with the word stellarator? Or maybe hohlraum from inertial confinement fusion.

hehehe... you have no idea how many times i have had to explain the humour behind naming the plasma dev sprints "tokamak". usually because i start giggling too and the other person has no idea what's gotten into me.
i thought the joke would be more obvious, but apparently the people just don't keep up with their high energy physics like they used to ;P
and, oooh.. hohlraum. that's a good one.
*files that one away for later use* ;)
Think about the Win7 like taskbar with cool animations and Plasmas panels shadow + blur under trasnparent Plasma elements. Thats the most missing things to me in Plasma now. ;]

Would than mean facebook like features? Were the real control remains with the users. And Plaxo like features? This would be great!
This is living proof that god doesn't like me... Here I am, 45km away from tomahawk and I can't go because... I have a test on monday!
Hey aseigo,
In Portugal, the town is called Porto (which means port [harbour]), never Oporto (which means nothing). The reason why in some English-speaking countries it used to be called Oporto is that, when the British came to the north of Portugal (because of the very good Port wine), they heard the locals saying "o Porto" (Porto with the definire article 'o' [like 'the' in english]), and ignorantly thought that the name of Porto was Oporto, so it stuck. Despite that, it is incorrect so please correct it, thanks
By the way You'll find alot of sites troughtout the internet which tell you that in english oporto is a correct spelling, but trust me that isn't true it's the same as saying that Microsoft office .doc documents are the standard office document for text, just because alot of people use it. It's not true and you now it, nor microsoft nor popularity define a standard, but a standards body. The Analogous is true for languages as well.
P.S. don't forget to taste some wines while you're there, some of the worlds best :D
