p's mom brought over a bunch of his stuff that had been at her house; so now we had enough stuff for two houses. it didn't help that she didn't sort through any of the stuff and half of the things she brought over were junk or things he'd outgrown.
now, i live in a small house. this is purposeful for a few reasons, one of which is it keeps my material belongings down simply due to the amount of space i have. or rather, don't have. so the place had begun to look a bit like a warehouse this past week due to the sudden influx of things.
it also hadn't helped that during the last couple weeks m. was still here i put in as many hours as i could(n't) spare working on kde4. this meant that the state of the kitchen isn't what it should've been and the living room / home office had become ... chaotic.
today we went about fixing that.
we spent from late morning until late afternoon organizing, sorting, moving, stowing and getting rid of all sorts of things. not only did we manage to sort through p's various amusements and get them down to a reasonable number, we pulled all the books off the bookshelves in the various rooms and consolidated them onto the two bookshelves in the living room. i got rid of the stereo i no longer use (though didn't have time to also find a new home for the speakers), cleaned the kitchen and tidied the master bedroom for good measure. the difference in the house in remarkable.
we'll have to do this again next weekend to finish that last 10% that takes the other 50% of the time to complete, at which point the house should be back to fully restored order so that when i next have a guest over she doesn't look around and say, "i want to clean your house for you." meh.

yay cleaning :)
I inherited a bunch of pete's stuff when he went back to canada, and I haven't been in the mood to clean up after myself recently, so I had to get some cleaning done today too. as much as I hate getting started, I actually enjoy organizing stuff. :) it was hard for me to resist the urge to clean his room for him while he was here.
ps: why does blogger insist on me passing the captcha even now that I'm signed in? and why does it always think I get it wrong the first time?
Me no likey cleaning. But it's necessary TT__TT.
@Chani: The captcha always show, unfortunately. On the getting it wrong the first time, if you take along time between loading the page and posting, the captcha changes, but doesn't update. It's fairly annoying at times
Only your female guests feel the urge to clean your house? You need new male friends then! hahaha
