another day, another krush

so krush day was rather successful. the irc channel was quite busy and a good number of issues were fixed. in plasma, we managed to fix issues with various button like widgets as well as some deep problems with layouts. the number of things crossed out on the krush day list has gotten pretty impressive =)

thanks to everyone who came out to test, debug and patch kde 4.0 code ... and see you all again next saturday =)

Whoa. The number of issues crossed out, is ...drumroll... 42.
The answer to life, the universe, and how to make KDE4 releasable in a month? :)

Yes, in one week KDE4 has been getting more polished and especially in Plasma where my most hated bug at that moment was that the panel clock didn't remember it's position across logins.
Right now, my most hated bug with Plasma are with some plasmoids that doesn't remember it's settings across logins. For example, in the FileWatcher plasmoid, or the Notes plasmoid doesn't save the text entered and Kickoff does not remember favorite applications.

But my two most hated bugs in KDE4 now are these:

IO-slaves not working with authentication
Knotify4 has over 900 wakeups per second

The knotify4 bug is very annoying, because once it doesn't let me to login on KDE4. The cause was that before I logged with another username on KDE4 and when I logged out (apparently without any trouble) it left two knotify4 process opened and they doesn't get me to login to a KDE4 session with another user as they seemed to block and freeze the KDE4 startup. I went crazy until I found what was the cause.

Right now, I'm enjoying a lot that I can use Nepomuk with Dolphin, as it let me to tag, rate and put some description to files and directories.
But this makes me wonder if there would be any GUI that can take advantage on this, or could Dolphin itself filter contents by tag and/or rate?
Also it can be that Kerry get's ported to Strigi/Nepomuk.

Also I want to mention that I'm getting some fun with the Gwenview's file navigation zoom widget located right at the bottom of Gwenview. This widget it's so nice that I wish it to be implemented in Dolphin some day. If I remember correctly Leopard's Finder has a similar widget.

Anyway the progress made over KDE3 it is so obvious that I'm using KDE4 as my full session desktop.

@josepfebrer: did you do something special to use nepomuk+dolphin ?? cause by default compiling from svn nepomuk is not actived(nepomuk services is not available[...]) ???

I'm glad a lot of bugs are being fixed, specially with RC1 being tagged 3 days and released in a week! @__@
I'm still trying to learn on the whole compilation process, hopefully I'll have a kde4 desktop compiled before the final release :P

@anonymous: All you need to do is start it from the runner. I've been using it in Kubuntu since the KDE 4 Beta 2 packages, and it's amazing!

Glad to hear Krush days are successful! Seems that there's something to getting users and developers to talk to each other after all. ;-)

Many wishes for continued success with Krush days! :-)
