changing my name ;)

ok, that's it: i'm changing the spelling of my name to "siego" and as an extra bonus for the boys at lug radio (and 90% of people who introduce speakers at conferences) the official pronunciation from "s-EYE-go" to "SEE-ay-go". there's just no point in resisting when people are so wonderfully consistent in sticking to their preferred permutations.

today is also the first day the year that has felt like spring. well, at least to me. but i've been spelling and saying my name wrong for years, so what do i know? ;)

Ah now you see the interesting effect of time travel: the article came from the future, and as such, I already KNEW you were going to change your name to Siego. The REAL question now is: would you have changed your name if I did NOT bring this article back from the future?

Seriously now, my apologies, I made a few changes already.

Wow, I'm subscribed to Planet KDE and read every one of your posts, so your name appears in my Akregator nearly every day. This was the first time I realized it was spelled "Seigo" and not "Siego". Crazy.

as long as i don't end up being my own father, it's all good. ;-)

Is that 'seigo' rhyming with 'psycho'?

I could change my name to match common pronunciation. Except everyone says 'Ots' differently - 'Otis', 'Oats', 'Watts'. (Hint: It's pronounced like 'hots' without the 'h'.) I once ordered something over the internet and it came addressed to Seamus Watts.

When I went to Estonia (the origin of my surname) I found it quite odd to have the woman at the bus station ask me how to spell 'James', and then typed 'Ots' into the computer without asking.

The usability people filed the bug report about your name long time ago.

OMG, why did it take so long to fix it?

:)

it all starts to make sense, doesn't it?

ingenious solution to the last name pronunciation problem. Fortunately for me, I was able to change it when I got married. Now if I could just convince the world on how to pronounce my FIRST name, I'd be two for two! haha

Hehe, that reminds me of Guybrush Threepwood.

Hehe, almost everyone outside Ukraine and Russia do not pronounce my name correctly:
"y" in Dymo stands for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close_central_unrounded_vowel :)

See - I always thought the LUGRadio guys said it "SAY-go", and so I probably would have either spelt it saygo, or seigo, with the sei rhyming with the 'Pei' in Taipei. Which would've been right......

The pronunciation, but not the spelling, seems to be the same as "ciego," which means "blind" in Spanish. That might not be too fun next time Akademy is in Spain ;)

For us LugRadio boys it was all just a chance to remember Sega :)
